Biosketch

Dr. Peiyi Ding is a Senior Research Officer and has a background in Geography. He received his BSc degree from Xinjiang University and MSc degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in China, and his PhD from the University of New England in Australia. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences at The University of Melbourne, and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Queensland. His main research area is environmental management for tourism development with a particular focus on environmental auditing for tourism organisations. He has extensive research and consultancy experiences in such areas as tourism planning in China and tourism education issues related to China. Over the years Dr. Ding has been involved in a number of projects on environmental management for tourism and tourism planning, such as "environmental audits for tourism development" funded by the Australian Research Council, "administrative and legislative controls of environmental management for tourism development in China" funded by the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism, "Inner Mongolia Tourism Master Planning" funded by Inner Mongolian Provincial Government in China, "Lianhua Lake Tourism Development" funded by Hailin City Government in China. Currently, he is mainly involved in China related tourism research, education and training programs.

Dr. Ding has served as a guest editor for the journal of Current issues in Tourism on Special Issues for China Tourism Research. He is the Editorial Member of Tourism Sciences and the referee for The International Journal of Environmental Management and Current issues in Tourism.
